As I watch a fit guy run past me pushing a jogging stroller, I think, “wow, he is attractive,” and my ovaries hiccup a little bit, I am simultaneously amused and mortified by my brain and body.
Not a fan. Of the. Apple Speaking Styleβ’. π€―
It is. One short step. Away From. The Ted Talk. Speaking Styleβ’.
Also, an aversion to Ferengi.
Good night, not-great day. Hello, better day tomorrow.
Have a picture of Andy’s new family member, Luna.
Tried a new white tea today, one less processed than usual. Was surprised that the instructions read, “steep up to 10x.”
To my delight, the fifth steeping was still delicious. I’m curious the caffeine levels of these later brews.
Anyone know where @smokey went?
I miss their insights.
Things they don’t tell you at tea school: the tea patina that helps flavor your next tea is actually clogging the water flow in the infuser.
I do not need another domain name. I do not need another domain name. I do not need another domain name.
Though spite.ceo has some possibilities….
“You know how some people like to burn their marshmallows when making s’mores?”
“Yes?”
“Well, today we have s’mores Brussels sprouts.”
βThe climb requires use of ascenders and fixed lines between Camp I and II over a 40-degree slope for 1,800 ft., and you can expect a long 12-hour summit day, during which you will gain 3,600 ft. of elevation to reach the summit.βΒ Β
Hooboy.
Every. Single. Pole. And. Tree. Was. A. Stop. And. Sniff. Point. For. Beagle. Today.
Annoying until acceptance, then an opportunity for meditation.
Day 7 of book recommending: The Dresden Files, by Jim Butcher. The first two are okay, the series starts rolling at book 3. Dead Beat, Changes, and Skin Game are my faves, in that order. π
Do you use the Brave browser?
If so, have you signed up for the Brave Rewards thingy?
For day 6 of MB’s Book Challenge week, I’m suggesting William Irvine’s A Slap in the Face: Why Insults Hurt–And Why They Shouldn’t, a book about (not of) insults. I am thankful Irvine wrote this book, as his writing it meant I didn’t have to write my version of it. π
For day 5 of MB’s Book Challenge week, I’m suggesting Sam Harris’ Free Will. This book was 9th on my list of Things that F’d Me Up in Life. If you thoughtfully consider the arguments Harris makes, the short read is intensely painful. π
Day 4 of MB’s Book Recommendation week, moving back to fiction:
Guy Gavriel Kay’s The Lions of Al-Rassan, a historical fantasy novel set in Moorish Spain, is a “tale of brutality and romance.” There are scenes in this book that give me goosebumps, even on the fourth reading. π
Day 3 of MB’s Book Recommendation week, and this one should be required reading:
Rolf Dobelli’s The Art of Thinking Clearly, a book of cognitive biases, logic fallacies, and faulty thinkings that, once you know about them, you can see everywhere.
Spoiler alert: we are all fallible. π
Day 2 of the Book Recommendation part of MB’s May challenge, and, yes, this is also an easy one:
John Steinbeck’s East of Eden, a modern retelling of Adam and Eve, Cain and Abel.
First book I can recall reading twice. π
